How to Outsource Work You Hate Doing in Under a Week (VIDEO) - Classy Career Girl

How to Outsource Work You Hate Doing in Under a Week (VIDEO) Previously I shared 5 secrets to hiring a virtual assistant. That article has all the steps to do after you actually get a VA. So today, I wanted to share exactly how to  actually hire your VA for the first time and how to outsource your tasks for the first time. How to Outsource Work You Hate Doing in Under a Week Note: The process I recommend below utilizes  Onlinejobs.ph.  This is my affiliate link and I will earn a commission if you purchase a plan. Remember, I only recommend products that I have used myself and I think you will find useful. Step 1:  Identify What You Need Help With The first step is to create a list of items that you want  to outsource. You are going to create a list of four items and brainstorm all of the tasks you do in your business. I would suggest writing everything you do in one entire day and put it into the below categories: -Tasks you love to do -Tasks you hate to do (outsource!) -Tasks you can’t do (outsource!) -Tasks you really shouldn’t be doing (outsource!) Step 2: Create an Org Chart Your org chart doesn’t have to look pretty and be super fancy. Just use an excel spreadsheet and document everything you will do as a CEO and everything you want the new virtual assistant  on your team to do. The key thing here is to think about what you want your team to look like one year from now. Add those team spots that seem a little scary right now as TBD and start working towards that goal now! Step 3: Create a Job Description Here is one of our sample virtual assistant job descriptions. Editorial and Social Media Virtual Assistant Position We are looking for a dynamic Virtual Assistant to assist with social media, online marketing, managing editorial content and researching and writing articles. The Virtual Assistant will manage and schedule the WordPress blogging calendar. The VA will work to increase viewers to the website by Search Engine Optimization, building link networks, article marketing and commenting on forums and other blogs. VA must possess strong research, analytical, detail and writing skills. We are looking for an individual who has great computer skills, is a quick learner, highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with working online and independently and able to handle large amounts of information and data. Specific responsibilities include: • Preparing and publishing social media content for Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter • Managing and publishing the incoming 30+ guest articles per month and create and manage a monthly contributor program • Look for and reach out to new guest contributors • Submit guest articles from CCG around the web to other sites and blogs • Monitor news releases and social media for new content ideas • Research and write 5+ articles per week (This doesn’t have to be you writing, it can be roundups like this: classycareergirl • Obtain interviews and exposure for CCG by networking and contacting other blogs • Creating featured images and editing photos for social media and articles • SEO Research and analysis to improve our search engine rankings Additional tasking as required. At any point in time, VA can propose another tasking or training that would benefit ClassyCareerGirl.com Requirements: • Strong attention to detail • Highly organized and ability to complete multiple tasks on time • Superb writing and research abilities. • Positive attitude and strong work ethic. • Ability to work independently and take initiative. • Able to think out of the box, with an interest in learning new things. • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at once. Must know how to use social media, have previous experience growing social media channels, marketing, be enthusiastic about helping women, and be willing to handle various projects on-the-fly. This position is a virtual position. PHP 10,000/mnth Full Time 40 hours per week Step 4: Post Your Job   I only teach what has worked for me building my business and Ive found the Philippines is a great place to outsource. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I now have two virtual assistants, based in the Philippines, who are absolutely amazing. You can do the same utilizing Onlinejobs.ph. (Note: This is my affiliate link and I will earn a commission if you purchase a plan. Remember, I only recommend products that I have used myself and I think you will find useful). You can post a job for free. You will need to pay $49 to email the people that respond to you. Sometimes they will email you directly so you don’t have to pay the $49, but I do recommend doing your due diligence and paying so that you can review all of the emails and application that are submitted for the position.  In the past, I normally get 35 applicants for each job I post. Step 5: Be Patient and Find Your Perfect Match You may have to wait 24-48 hours for your job posting to get approved when you outsource. Then you will start getting a ton of applicants. I usually wait for about 24 hours for applicants to keep rolling in. Then, I go into the system and bookmark the applicants that I think fit what I need the best. Then, I follow up with this email to the top 3-5 applicants: -When are you able to start? -Is there anything else we should know that will help us make our  decision? -This position is a full-time 40 hour per week position paying 10,000 PHP. Does this still sound like something you are interested in? What are you most excited about doing in this job? -Can you send me an article you have written? Step 6: Hire like a BOSS! Usually, the “one” is pretty obvious. It’s the one that has responded the quickest and has the best English. I get the feeling that I really want that person on my team and I get a sense of peace and calmness because more stuff will be taken off my plate so Ic an focus on growing my business! Once I find the one, I send these employment policies: Great! We would like to officially offer you the Editorial and Social Media Virtual Assistant position! Congrats!  Please let us know if you have any questions! Employment Policies Please review the employment policies below and let me know if you concur: -Bonus at 13th month -Week off between Christmas and New Years -You must send me an invoice to info@classycareergirl.com at the end of the month to be paid. Please ask Lor for an example of an invoice. -You need to notify John and I when you wont be working on a day (vacation, sick, etc) -We observe all Philippine major holidays: Holidays: New Years Days Jan 01 Maundy Thursday Apr 9 Good Friday Apr 10 Labor Day May 01 Independence Day Jun 12 National Heroes Day Aug 30 Bonifacio Day Nov 30 Christmas Eve Dec 24 Christmas Day Dec 25 Rizal Day Dec 30 New Years Eve Dec 31 -2 weeks vacation per year divided as follows:  One week must be taken between Christmas and New Years and one week or individual days can be taken any time with 2 weeks advance notice (provided that no major projects fall within that time frame) -We pay through paypal.com. -This position is for 40 hours per week. -You must email me at anna@classycareergirl.com and  info@classycareergirl.com every day with an update email answering the below questions: -What did you do today? -What problems did you run into today? -What can I do to make your job easier? Let me know if you concur with the above.  SO happy to have you on board!!! Please let me know if you have any issues or questions. Looking forward to working with you!  If you concur with the above policies, we will provide login information and get you started! Step 7: Delegate What You Hate Doing I get my new virtual assistant set up in Asana  so I can assign them with tasks and prioritize items for them.  I also get them their email using my own domain name and let them know how to check their email. This is where you want to have your plan for how to outsource your tasks. In my situation, the first tasks I delegate in Asana are: -Login information. Make sure they have all the login info they need. -Review of the job description and the daily/weekly/ongoing tasks they will be working towards -Sign NDA -Take training videos on Trello.com (this is where I keep my operations manual. I have already pre-recorded trainings for them so they know exactly how I want things done). -First tasks and assignments. Then you are off and running. This process can last anywhere from 3 days to 1 week. It’s totally up to you! Your new teammate is waiting for you! If you want more details on getting  your team structured and business officially launched and growing, watch my free Corporate Rescue Plan webinar!

Every Weekend Should Be a Long One

Every Weekend Should Be a Long One I think I speak for most of American workers when I say that we love our long weekends. I’ve been known to keep my alarm set for my normal wakeup time on a Monday holiday. Really. Just for the pleasure of turning it off and rolling over to go back to sleep â€" a pleasure I never indulge in during the work week. Time is a precious and scarce commodity these days â€" I know many professionals, especially those with children, who feel time-starved. There’s just never enough time to fit in everything we want to do: exercise, schedule a date night, finish projects around the house, play games with the kids What if every weekend were a long weekend? Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'5-_bG5uJR3FlH4YZ7vS5aQ',sig:'QKzVHE0GDDnKv2qEgenTphXGVjXa8hR3sO5D1jO4nC4=',w:'380px',h:'253px',items:'488775487',caption: false ,tld:'com',is360: false })}); I’ve written before about Parkinson’s Law: Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.  British historian Cyril Northcote Parkinson developed this theme for a book in the 1950’s, and nothing has yet proved him wrong. Try telling anyone â€" from your 3-year-old to a mid-level manager â€" that she can do something fun as soon as she finishes the (insert unappealing adjective here) task at hand. You will see a flurry of productivity you didn’t dream possible.  Done and out the door in record time. Who wouldn’t benefit from an extra personal day a week? Imagine employees who come back to work after sleeping in for a day. Or spending a day with family. Or getting their to-do list finished off, shopping done, or spending the day at a yoga retreat. Refreshed, relaxed, and ready to focus again. Some experts believe that most workers could increase productivity and produce the same amount of work in 32 hours instead of the traditional 40. The Results Only Work Environment concept embraces this idea. Set goals for a worker and release him when the work is done â€" no judgment, no penalty for leaving work early. Or starting your day after noon if you’re not a morning person. ROWE is the brainchild of Gen X authors Cali Ressler and Jody Thompson from their delightfully titled opus Why Work Sucks and What to Do About It. Your 32-hour company might even become a talent magnet, attracting the best workers, who incidentally might just be the most productive. Of course, you also have the 4/10 model available: working the same number of hours in a compressed work week. And of course you could stagger days off so essential functions are covered. (Any other lame excuses? Get creative, for Pete’s sake.) Jason Fried, the CEO and founder of tech company 37 Signals, gives his employees a 32-hour work week from May through October. In a 2012 op-ed piece for the New York Times, he wrote: “The benefits of a six-month schedule with three-day weekends are obvious. But there’s one surprising effect of the changed schedule: better work gets done in four days than in five. When there’s less time to work, you waste less time. When you have a compressed workweek, you tend to focus on what’s important. Constraining time encourages quality time.” The 40-hour work week is a man-made creation. I think the world would be a better place if every weekend was a long one. What do you think?

The Top 5 Personal Branding Myths - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

The Top 5 Personal Branding Myths - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career 1) I dont have a personal brand False This statement always annoys me, yet people continue to ask it again and again and again. The second you were born, you were branded. Maybe even before you were born! The way chromosomes work is that you will share qualities from both your mother and father, therefore their personal brands co-develop yours. Before you even come out of the womb, your parents are already branding you (in hopes that you are a girl or boy or that you resemble one of them). As you travel through the human life cycle, your brand will inadvertently evolve and mature, yet some of your qualities and perceptions will remain the same. Today, we finally put an end to this question and the answer is yes, we all have a personal brand because we are being judged constantly. We are given the precious opportunity to change personal perceptions by leading with our own personal brands. Even animals have personal brands. If your dog barks all the time, your neighbors might label him as obnoxious. Typically people name their pets based on how they act. Before I start to rant anymore, Id like to finish by saying that personal branding is a state-of-mind. The more you come to the realization that youre a brand, the more you will be conscious as to how you portray yourself. 2) Personal branding is all about you False Ive covered this one before and I still believe that you need to make other people successful first or solve their problems. Personal branding is about serving others and as a result, your sphere of influence and visibility increases. The more you help others, the more you will receive, either directly or indirectly. Selfishness and too much self-promotion punishes your audience. Of course you have to promote yourself, just dont go overboard. Each success you have while building your personal brand is the result of others endorsing you. People have just as much, if not more, control over the achievement of your personal brand as you have. This can only mean that you need to pay attention to others and I dont mean EVERYBODY. You need to surround yourself with the right people(customers and colleagues). Then deliver quality and service and make them look good. That is how you win! 3) Personal branding is image management False Lets quickly define both. Image management is how to shape perceptions by changing who you are on the outside. In this way, you are deceiving, while pleasing others. Personal branding is how we market ourselves to others by revealing who we are on the inside. In todays world, tricking people doesnt work in the long-term. Youve seen relationships deteriorate based on genuineness when people reveal their true motives and brand later. Personal branding is about the Real YOU Incorporated. If you even try and be fake, someone will catch you, blog about you and reveal the real you to everyone else. If you start by laying everything out on the table, you will save yourself any backlash later. At the same time, even though conformity is bad for our culture, I still believe we have to be smart in certain situations. There are cultural norms, such as (and Im exaggerating here) not eating with your hands at the dinner table or not screaming out when someone is making a presentation to you. Basically, good situational judgment is necessary and applauded in our society. At the same time, if we completely conform, we risk losing our creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Its up to you what face you want to show to the world, but I do recommend you show the natural one. 4) Personal branding is all about getting a job False Most people automatically view personal branding as a path to getting a job. This is true only if it was your only objective. This is NOT a good idea everyone. Building your brand takes a lot of time, energy, sacrifice, money and determination. People have 8-12 jobs in their lifetime, so by the time your goal is met, youll be looking to do it again. Im not saying having this type of goal is bad, but you really need to have a vision. Personal branding is not even just about career development, even though it gets positioned in the self-help and marketing sections of Amazon. Personal branding takes into account your professional and person lives. To get a job or build a career is certainly a giant piece of the personal branding methodology, but empowerment, confidence and networking are other benefits. Also, as I refer everyone to from time to time, the Octopus Model of Relevancy will show you all the topics related to personal branding. 5) Not everyone can be successful False Ive spoken about this topic as well. The real definition of success needs to be success = monetize your passion or, translated, it means that you are compensated based on what you are passionate about. This doesnt mean it has to be millions of dollars. See if Forbes and Fortune magazine promote having millions of dollars as being successful they limit the population down to a select few. When we talk about personal branding, its much better to leave the definition open so the majority can be successful or feel successful. When your passionate about your job, its not a job anymore. It becomes a paid hobby, just like golf or video games. Tiger Woods loves his job and is compensated more indirectly (endorsements) rather than for each of his big wins. 90% of people take jobs that they dont enjoy to pay the bills. They rush into career paths because they are told to do so. Its time to do what you want to do!

If you are new to the job you are applying for, then it is important to mention this, if you are a returning employee, you can simply state your position again. You can also use your resume and CV to increase your employment chances. A resume or CV can be used in two ways. First, if you need to boost your employment chances or second, if you have already been employed and want to find a new job.

Career Reflections Bloom Where You Are Planted - Hire Imaging

Career Reflections Bloom Where You Are Planted - Hire Imaging Kretyen Today is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s the first official day of spring. After a long and severe winter with record snow amounts coupled with very cold temperatures, my fellow Minnesotans and I are more than ready for a reprieve. So it was exciting to find a fresh bouquet of daffodils at the local market. I also took advantage of the 50ish degree temps to be outside on our property. We have Sedum and Hosta plants, both transplant gifts from friends and family. Both are amazingly low maintenance perennials, the first requiring some sun; the second some shade. They have been trampled by our dog, Ted and overall neglected. Yet, they continue to blossom each spring. It reminded me of one of my favorite quotes: Bloom where you are planted.” Each of us can excel and flourish where we are or where we fit in. We can just be good at what we do. Two people discovered this lesson for themselves in very different scenarios: The first was a story I heard a number of years ago. A wealthy corporate executive from Wisconsin had acquired a small fortune, and loved what he did. But he had felt an internal tugging of obligation to help those less fortunate than he. Unannounced, he set off for Calcutta, India, to see if he could help Mother Teresa in her missionary work. Upon meeting her, he asked how he could help. To his surprise, she sent him home. She said that he should go back to his work; that he should just be the best executive he could be, so that Wisconsin would never see the poorest of the poor with whom Mother Teresa was working. And so he did. He also founded and directed three charities in his hometown. My client, Paula, also experienced a related epiphany. A new college graduate and entry-level administrative assistant, she was impatient to move up the corporate ladder quickly. She was anxious to make six figures. She also wanted to be doing important work, and was frustrated with the mundane tasks she was assigned to. Still living at home with her parents, she declared to them one day that she was going to quit her job. They told her that it was good to start from the bottom and work her way up. Her father said that it was often more gutsy to persevere in a current situation; it would build character. Six years later, she told me that it was a valuable lesson; and had been a strong foundation for her success. At that point, she had risen to the role of Call Center Manager, which she loved. We are all free to express and explore our gifts and talents. We are only limited by our imagination.   Sometimes, it’s good to think about where our roots are firmly planted, and grow our branches from there. What choices have you made at defining moments of your career? What stories do you have to share?
